Not a bad way to end an evening...

wetceal May 22, 2005 01:30 AM

We were working late tonight and it was a good thing we were! One of my normal females who was due gave birth! At 110 days POS she gave birth to 22 big, beautiful, healthy babies! NO SLUGS! NO STILLBORNS! NO DEFORMITIES! I love this girl! She is SUCH a good mom! She gave us our first litter of Hypo Boas last season only to top herself with this litter!

She was bred by our Jungle male this year and out of the 22 babies, we got 12 Jungles and 10 normals. 5.7 Jungles and 6.4 normals. Not bad at all! No crazy aberrancies but ALL the Jungles are VERY clean patterned!

This was actually the first time I was lucky enough to witness most of the birthing process. I usually miss it or only catch the tail end of it. So I jumped on the opportunity and took LOTS of pics. I even took some video using my cell phone. The quality isn't too great on those but I'll pick out a little clip and post it later. Anyways...here they are...

Momma giving birth...

A Nice little Jungle...

Jungle vs Normal comparison shot...

Most are extremely easy to tell apart...

The boys...

A few of the girls...

And a few potential keepers...

Here is a series of photos that shows the female giving birth to a baby. There are so many pictures that I put it on a separate webpage. It's more than 30 photos so if you are on dial-up, you'll probably have to wait a few minutes for all the photos to load...

.....those comparison shots are perfect. Minimal abberancies but still vastly different looking animals. Congratulations Celia. Hopefully, we have finally put to rest some of the thorniest questions about the Jungle project. Now I eagerly await the reappearance of the Super Jungle.

Your photos clearly demonstrate the difference between normals and Jungles. Great job! Please take some post shed pics so we can see some more of that amazing Jungle color!
