I need a few opinions on this one...

So this is not uroplatus related, but does have something to do with them.

I've been trying to part with a pair of Green Tree Pythons for a few months now and I haven't had much success because they are long term captive w.c.'s.

tonight I spoke with my property manager about my collection and how I was going to try to get an air conditioner for my reptile room to get the temps down to the mid 70's so not to fry any of my geckos. He responds with "I was thinking about asking you to take you geckos out of that storage room I'm letting you use so I can put a small wall mounted air conditioner in for you." I was somewhat taken back but said "just tell me when and I'll move them right away."

Then I got to thinking about how much he's let me get away with or given me some kind of kick back or "special" price on the apartment since I've moved in.

1) I was subleasing when I wasn't supposed to be and he let me stay in my old apartment.
2) He gave me a storage room to use for my geckos when the people I subleased from told me "No Pets!"
3) He gave me a $250 discount on the rent and no security deposit when I moved into one of the empty 2 bedroom apartments. Normally 1350 a month with a 1500 security deposit versus the 1100 I pay currently without a deposit.
4) Bought a refrigerator for our apartment when I couldn't afford one.
5) Received all my shipments of crickets and animals when I was at work or out of town.
6) He took care of my animals when I went out of town to visit family and work a convention in Maryland for my girlfriend's company.

Now, Steve (my prop. manager) keeps Green Tree Pythons. I know he's looking to get more to add to his collection. Do any of you think it would be a bad gift to give him the pair of green tree pythons because of all the kick backs and help he's been giving me since I moved into his apartment complex? Because of all his generosity I've saved over $1000 on rent plus what I didn't spend on the security deposit ($2500) and another 450 on the refrigerator. Now add in there another $2000 for the rest of the year's rent I'm saving on.

The snakes are only worth $1500 at most because they are wildcaught.

Think I would be over stepping my bounds by giving him a present of that caliber? I know he likes them too, he's always remarking about how beautiful they are.

Thanks all for any and all input...
Jason

That is a tough one! You have sopme one who is taking care of you for nothing and that is rare now a days but that is a BIG gift! I beleave 100% in taking care of those that take care of me. I would do it but make sure that he has the space for them and let him know that it is not something that you are expecting anything in return for.

Just let him know that you know he did not have to take care of you and you apreacate it alot and you know that he would get more enjoyment out of them than you would. Who knows he could end up breeding them and haveing a breeding pair of anything is cool.

That is my opinion..

Good luck!

like mike said, i'd just be sure he's got the space and need for them and i'd do it. also as mike said, it's not too often that people help you out of their own generosity just because they can. it would be a nice gift, and a great way to show him that you appreciate what he's done for you.

hahahahah , I could not resist being a smartie!

Sounds real nice Jason, KINDNESS is a special thing, and I can see no harm in a GIFT...

To show your appreciation for all the kindnesses shown to you!

Just make darn sure , he REALLY wants them, and would not just sell them, that would not be kind, I'm sure he would not do that if hes so into them.

You have a GOOD HEART !

yea, im in agreement with everyone else, if he's someone with genuine interest and all, i guess you should go for it. i know you've talked to me a bit about those guys, but no one i know can afford the money or maintenance on those. as long as you know he's not the type of guy to turn around and sell them off soon after (which is not the impression i get at all), i would say its above and beyond saying thanks for all he's done for you.
