Last hatchling for this year

Maybe. Still have one egg left from December that looks good though it is way overdue.
They are really round right out of the egg.

The yoke sack will be gone in a day or so. Takes bout a week for the shell to look 'normal'.

They always hatch with this much in their lunch box.

Congratulations! What a great day you had!
This is really special! This little guy is just adorable!
Do you usually weigh your hatchlings? It seems really small, but maybe this is just the picture, or because he is still so round?
Is the mother a younger, smaller female?
Even with being an experienced breeder,- one of these little guys hatching must be a little miracle every time!

Regards,
Gaby

Was from a fairly decent sized egg--4.00cms X 3.75cms but not a huge egg. These are the so called Brazilian dwarf type redfoot so even though I don't think they are true dwarfs, they do begin breeding at a slightly smaller size.
Female was in her second year of egg production when she laid it so yes, she is still young.

I just read in the 'Classified', that somebody was offering 'Dwarf Cherryheads', but I didn't know, that there are dwarf ('regular') redfoots. Are they naturally occuring in a specific region of Brazil, or have they been selectively captive bred from bringing together comparatively smaller individuals from Brazil?
Despite the fact, that adult sizes are hard to specify, since tortoises grow for their whole life,- how 'small' are these? Meaning e.g. how long is this female, that has just started reaching breeding age, and in case she was captive bred,- how old is she?
Sorry for all these questions,- but when you really love these animals it is so tempting when you get the chance to discuss with somebody with such long term experience!

No, I don't weigh the hatchlings. I never had the accurate scales to do so.
I do measure them at one week though. This allows them time to 'shape up' after hatching.
And I never get tired of seeing a new hatchling. They are all different.
