Where is everybody?

Hi, where is eveybody? There hasn't been any posts in here since April and that's sad. Oregon herpers are becoming an endangered species. Post something.

I'm sorry to say that I don't know as much about snakes as I would like to. Would you mind sharing what species they are. Again beautiful snakes.
Sincerely,

No problem, the black and white one I'm holding with a glove is a Mangrove Snake (boiga dendrophila dendrophila). Normally they are black and yellow, this variety only occurs in Bali. The little guy is a Sumatran Red Blood Python, and the larger one with the basketball is an adult Jungle Carpet Python. Thanks for looking, Eric-

Was wondering why you were wearing gloves..Never seen the black and white variety.. Almost thought it was a kingsnake, but body shape and head are very different.

very nice blood too...

thanks,

Billie

A Mangrove snake is a rear fanged venomous snake. Their venom is very similar to a Death Adder but their delivery system is lacking. That snake is a wild caught sub-adult and the picture was taken right after I got him. They can be a very unpredictable so I didn't want to take any chances. A lot of people free handle them, others think they should be treated as any other venomous snake but once he gets used to me the gloves will come off. Their scales are like glass so they are impossible to keep on a stick. Anyways, thanks, Eric-

most folks post on the yahoo group site. But I do try to check this one from time to time. I will attempt to check it more often...
