Ball Pythons in pet store...

Doug89 May 22, 2005 07:23 PM

I saw some in the pet store the other day and wished i could get one. Anyway it said they get to be about 5'-6' long. I though they got about 4' long but somewhat fat. What size rodent do they eat when they are full grown? And about how thick do they get? Thanks!

PS-I have read that they are really friendly is this true?

Most ball pythons get about 4-5.5 ft long but some do get 6 ft.
Medium rats and large rats but you can feed them 3-6 mice to.
Ball pythons get about 3-4 inches thick. Yes ball pythons are very friendly but when you get wc ball pythons they are mean but they get friendly after a while. Hope This Helps Scott Glover

Even as adults you can feed them as little as one large mouse per week and they will be perfectly healthy, hungry but healthy. I have an adult male that hardly ever wants more than one mouse per week and he is about 5 feet, but more often 2-4 mice or a nice sized rat fills them up. They will eat a little bit more when they are subadults and still growing. If you buy a hatchling and handle it a few times per week, it will be very friendly, if you buy a wild-caught adult, well it will be the opposite in most cases.
