What's a rococo toad and where's it from? I saw one and it looked like a cane toad.

Bufo paracnemis from Paraguy. Its closely related to the cane toad, but grows larger and is easily identified by its additional poison glands at the tibiae of the hind legs

They're found in much of South America I believe, not just Paraguay. I've often seen them in pet stores, tossed in with a bunch of marine toads, and labelled as such.

If you say it get slarger then the cane then why on every web cite they say the cane toad is the largest in teh world. Would you not think they would realise that the Roccoco is larger then the Cane? I am not saying you are wrong but just simply wondering about it.

Thanks

The larger "giant" forms of the Marine, or "Cane" toad are much larger than Rococos

I was talking about the averadge specimen.
Gigantism in Cane toad seems to appear more often than in roccoco toads. So the exceptionally big specimens are more often found among the cane toads.
But if you collect 20 Roccoco toads and 20 cane toads randomly from the pet trade, most Roccocos will significantly outgrow the canes.
I know of a Roccoco toad of 3 pounds and almost 10".
But also Bufo blombergi can outgrow even giant cane toads and the same is true for some other Bufo.
So its not easy to define "the largest toad species"-just too much individual variation and too many species with the potential to grow extremely big.
My cane toads are still relatively small, with the female weighing only 500grams. But they still grow...

Sorry, not "my cane Toads" but "my roccoco toads"

OK so you are saying that over all if you average them out the Roccoco toad will mostly be larger then the Cane toad that you find on the trade market. So would you think that this is because of over breeding of the Cane toads? Since more people KNow about Cane toads then they do about Roccoco toads. I was thinking about buying this toad at a local petsmart that has it listed as LARGE BUFO but no specific name. After that pic you posted, or if not you some one else whom did, I think that this toad may be a roccoco. It had a very small head compared to the rest of its body with white spots and very short rounded snout.

Thanks for the info

Mine is a female Rococo. When I first got her she measured 6" stv. She's gained an inch so far and is still growing from what I understand. All I can say is that this is the most unique toad that I've ever had! I really enjoy her. She looks very much like that picture!
