What, if anything, is the differance between a Fireball and a Mojave???? more..

wingert1 May 22, 2005 10:44 PM

Both can produce leucistics right? So can Platnums. Are they all the same morph type or family of morphs? Kinda like different lines of Pastels where they are a little different but all compatable for the same ends. Maybe I off base here. Opinions!!!!

Yes both can produce lucys, but when fire x fire = black eyed lucys, mojave x mojave = blue eyed lucys, Platinum x mojave = blue eyed lucys but when a blue eyed lucy (from mojave x mojave) bred to a normal will produce all mojaves but when a blue eyed lucy (from platinum x mojave) bred to a normal can produce lesser platinums and mojaves.

No they are not the same of morph or family.

I'm assuming this question was prompted by the $18,000 Fire posted in the classifieds for just "pennies". That thing looks no different at all from any normal ball. And that being the case, how can you possibly tell a "Fireball" from any common normal? I'm not meaning to be sarcastic. I can't see anything that makes that ball anything other than normal. I'm stumped.

Look, I must have just hatched 6 Fires this weekend. Cool, $108,000 for me. And here I thought they were only worth about $100 a piece. Cha-ching.

neilm May 23, 2005 03:47 AM

RyanT, I was about to jump all over your a$$. That is, until I looked at the so called "Fire" on the classifieds, that a so called "big name" said was a Fire.

I would sure like to know who the "big name" is. Maybe it's Big Bird, or Kermit the frog. Whoever it is, they must not know anything about Fires, because it sure doesn't look like one to me. Since I have them, I think I should know.

Would the "big name" please step forward. I'm sure my fellow forum geeks would like to see me in another battle of the words. LMAO

This is the only Fire pic I have loaded on Kingsnake. Now if you can't tell the difference between the normal female and the male breeding her.........Well, my fellow geeks know where I want you to go. LOL

RyanT May 23, 2005 07:14 AM

Hey Neil. I have seen a few Fires before (probably yours) and I knew they were distinguishable from normals in some way. I'm not familiar with them at all since they're not exactly common. I was just referring to that particular one in the classifieds. Looks nothing but normal to me.

sparke303 May 23, 2005 11:38 PM

Neil,

Which qualities distinguish the fire from a similarly-colored/blushed ball python. Are there specific traits? Here's why I ask:

sparke303 May 24, 2005 12:01 AM

In this one, he's in shed with a Classic Jungle. The girl he was with (not the one in this pic) just laid a clutch unexpectedly, so I'm hoping to see something here.

neilm May 25, 2005 03:00 AM

The one specific thing you look for is this. A Fire will cost you $40,000, a normal will cost you $10.

There has not been a wild animal that has proven to produce black eyed lucy's yet. They're not going to be like Yellow bellies.

snakebstr May 30, 2005 12:36 PM

I think the Fire ball will turn out like the yellow belly, As soon as WE/PEOPLE figure out what the characteristics of a fire ball are then more will turn up, Just like the yellow bellies have turned out. But I can guarantee that when people know what a fire ball(het Black eyed lucy) looks like they will be on the lookout and some will turn up, After all several black eyed lucies are around and I am sure we will see a huge number in the future. Just my opinion. Thanks David

Nice snake. I could never say what it is from a pic though. Breed it, and see what you get.

jeff favelle May 23, 2005 12:14 AM

But if you can't tell the dif between a Mojave, a Lesser, and a Fire, you seriously need to get your eyes CHECKED. They all look RADICALLY different.

wingert1 May 23, 2005 12:28 AM

I am not saying they are identical. I feel they maybe from the same family. I do not know either way. I am not an expert. No one else thinks it's odd that mojave x mojave and mojave x lesser both produce the same thing. Nah, there worlds apart huh?.

jeff favelle May 23, 2005 07:33 AM

Nobody said they weren't related genetically. Obviously they are.

Your question was What, if anything, is the differance between a Fireball and a Mojave????.

Well, despite the fact that they LOOK RADICALLY different, like was said before, they have proven to produce Lucies with different coloured eyes.

Herpquest May 23, 2005 06:20 AM

Re. the advert on KS. If the 'big name' thinks that that snake is a Fireball, he/she has never seen a Fireball! The snake pictured is nothing more than a normal. Eric Davies

Snakebstr May 24, 2005 07:02 AM

I was wondering what you could tell me about this snake from the picture. It is pictured with a normal female. I just want to know what you think. I am going to keep it and breed it either way because it is a female, but wondering and trying to figure out what it might be is killing me. I am totally stumped. Your input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks David

The main differences are in the...wait...what am I talking about? I've never even seen a Mojave or Fire Ball. Nevermind.

That animal on the classifieds is absolutely NOT a Fire. I would bet that there is no "big name" that told him it was either. Just another scam..........

anthony james mc May 24, 2005 11:58 AM

Agree totally with you on that Mike.. I emailed him and asked for the breeders name that told him it was... As I thought I didn't get any response back from him... Someone is just trying to sell a nice high yellow female that they got out of africa for $30-50 for 18,000 (or whatever the crazy figure was)... same goes with his 25,000 unproven woma ball , that's ok I think most know better than to buy something like that from someone that none of us have ever even heard of, you nailed it Mike , he's got SCAM written all over it!!!
