does someone have a simpler way to explain what what homozygous is please thanks.

A recessive trait consists of two separate parts (alleles). If those two parts match then the animal is homozygous for that trait, if they don't match then the animal is heterozygous. For example, if we use the letter A to represent albinism then an animal that is "aa" is homozygous and an animal that is "Aa" is heterozygous. The trait will only be observable if the animal is homozygous. With a heterozygous animal the gene is there and can be passed on to offspring but it is not observable. I hope that helps.
