Future Boa Keepers....

drimes May 23, 2005 06:15 PM

Well it is the end of the school year for our kids so we took the opportunity today to do an educational presentation for our son's 4th grade class at Brentwood Elementary.

First, I would like to thank Mr. Gray Rushin for publishing his guidelines for doing an educational presentation, for without them our day would not have been nearly as successful.

Thanks, Gray!

This first photo is of the teacher, Mrs. Hill. She admitted that this is the FIRST time she has ever handled a snake! The expression on her face speaks volumes.

The rest speak for themselves. It gave me great pleasure to share my hobby with these kids today. They all seemed to truly enjoy a positive encounter with a boa. Many of them asked us, before we left, how they could get one as a pet for themselves.

I applaud your efforts and hope that you will continue to share your Boa friend with other kids. Kids love animals instinctively, and this helps to show the adults how much they are missing out on. Great job!

I got an e-mail from the teacher this evening stating that she NEVER thought she'd be holding a boa and enjoy it!

....thanks for sharing this Denny. I hope this is the first of many. Now we have another room of people who will be open minded about snakes.

One mind at a time. A lesson I learned from you, Gray.

Best of luck to you with your remaining litters.
