Frozen/thawed rodents are fine. It's the size that matters. I feed rodents, including small rats, to my tegus. I feed only rodents that are the size of the tegus head or a little smaller. If the rat is a little bit to large your tegu will likely spit it back out if it can't be fully swallowed, but to avoid choking hazards I'd start with rat pups and work my way up a little.

would it be possible to cut a frozen rat in half after thawed? LOL Yeah, disgusting, and I know the guts would go everywhere, but I know he would eat it. They are Medium rats from RodentPro. Those sound too big for a subadult?

You can cut the rats in half, just make sure they are not to large around to be swallowed. I would consider using a butcher knife and a cutting board to chop the rats in half while still frozen. Then let them thaw in a bowl and give the bowl to the tegu.
