Now I'm not very experienced but my two seem to have a decline in eating when they shed. Not to an extreme though. Hope that helps.
Take care,
karen

I think that adults might quit eating for a few days while shedding. It seems like my juveniles slow down but they still eat every day then again they've never had a bad shedding either. Why do you ask, has he stopped eating, or is having a hard time shedding?

argentine B/W- 13 inches- He is sheding fine but eating slow ever since i got him a few weeks ago. His temps and humidity are fine. He looks healthy(not skinny or anything like that. i dont know if hes eating enough ive got him to about 1 pinky mouse every other day, ive heard that they should be eating like pigs when they are so young. ive tried egg, turky(99% no fat free), mondo or super worms, lettus, straberry, and watermelon. the only thing he likes is raw egg and pinky mice. ive also been puting the calcium dust on everything he does eat, which hasn't been much. any more suggestions would be appresiated. thanks alot -nick-

I think all that's really needed for a appetite is a hot enough basking spot and a hide spot. Maybe parasites, a toxin, stress could make them loose their appetite too. You know for as fast as they grow you would expect them to be eating more. They put on more weight in the first couple months then my bearded dragons did in a year and the tegus didn't eat much more as far as I recall. If you keep track of his weight that can tell you how he's doing. You should be looking for him to double (or more) his weight every month initially.
