cricket feeding question

Jul 12, 2003 05:10 PM

hey whenever i get new crickets they tend to eat the fruits and vegies right away. The next day when i change their selection they tend to ignore it and go for the fish food that i give them.
is there any thign besides, bread, fish food that I can feed thats not a vegie or fruit?
can i feed them lemon, onion, bean sprouts?

I feed dark green leafys as the moisture part. Some feed carrot or apple or potato. I feed baby cereal as the dry part.....gerber mixed grain sort.
Fish food is kinda expensive so I stick with the baby cereal and dry milk.

i offer them dark romain lettuce every day as well as a choice of apples, carrots, or potatoes but they never seem interest, at least not as interested as the fish food. I have this small tray and they all go to it like cows, feed from the tray

You could also try feeding them dry dog/cat food or even moist, that way they would get some moisture but i'm sure it would spoil pretty fast. And I'm not sure about how healthy it is for them because whatever you feed to them gets passed onto whatever you're feeding them to. You could also try some commercial cricket pellets, mine seem to really like those, and plus they "gut-load" which is always a good thing. And for water, you could try commercial cricket gel, and some come with nutrition and water, so you only have to use one product.
