I know that the target basking temp is 120, but that some animals have invidivual preferences as high as the 140's, but does it go both ways and some prefer lower temps? My baby (about 9 months right now) is very rarely spotted basking, except on his "secondary basking area" on the cooler side. The temps on his main basking area vary, with spots reading everywhere from 120 to 140, so I figured he could pick and choose.
A few days ago his hottest light blew out, and until I could replace it i switched it up putting his lower light on the hot side and setting up an extra low wattage infrared bulb on the other side.
Today I caught him basking on his main basking site, and he's spending more time on that side in general. I "tempgunned" the site at 110-115, and he doesn't seem to like temps any higher then that. He still eats and poops normally, seems healthy. Is it possible that he just doesn't like extreme heat, or do babies generally shy away from higher temps?
