Mating season?

Bits9532 May 24, 2005 09:14 PM

I have a question about mating season. My orange female geyri, "Poppy" was caught doing the wild thing this afternoon with her new roommate...my high yellow male, "Dandy". I thought May was too late for breeding! Do I need to start preparing for eggs? Thanks in advance!

Sometimes you can get a clutch later in the year. Ra (my male mali) is still "in the mood" and has made the moves on Isis even though she laid eggs only a month ago. Ra was born on Aug. 24th so a late clutch is possible. If you caught them in the act, I would prepare for eggs just in case.
(I didn't know if Ra was successful in mating Isis but I bought an incubator and perlite as soon as I found eggs. I'm glad I did because the eggs are fertile and are due to hatch in a month from now.)

Good luck with everything

My new ornate was hatched in September of last year - as long as they're in the mood, I suppose it's mating season!
