Having Trouble Control Heat From A Heat Tape

bxherp May 24, 2005 09:31 PM

Hi everyone...I recently put a rack together and have approximately 24 feet of 3 inch heat tape in the back...I need to get the heat tape to about 80-85 degrees...I have a thermostat from Big Apple Herp that I am using to control the heat....However the heat tape either heats too much (up to almost 105 degrees) or remains too low (73 degrees) when I try to contorl the heat on the thermostat...I have no idea what to do in order to get it to 80-85 degrees...I am fresh out of ideas...I would appreciate any help or suggestions...Thanks

You have the BAH-1000 dont you? If so the thermostat will allow the temps to swing a great deal in both directions.. You need a good themrostat like a Johnson Controls or a Ranco if you looking for an analog.. Take a look at this line of the different themrostat models I made up...
