New 2004 greeri male

wombat May 24, 2005 11:37 PM

I picked up a 2004 Greeri male today from a local aquaintance- nice and healthy.

We only have one local pet shop in the county that deals in herps and feeder mice and frozen rodents, it's turning into a regular swap meet!

Nice to have a place to go and compare notes and meet locals with lots of different snakes...

I'm still trying to put together a mating pair of these gorgeous Greeri- still looking for a female...

Very nice young male. Lots of nice red, I like that. Congrats! I know you are hapopy with that little guy. How is he doing?

Seems well enough-

I got him Tuesday night, got him into a tub and have left him alone to get acclimated, last night he was sitting on top of one of his hides watching everything, good to see him alert and interested.

The seller said he's eating a pinkie every 3 days, tonight I may try him, maybe better to wait a couple more days and be more settled in, I'll see if he's out and actively looking for chow tonight... he has good weight and bulk, I'm very pleased.

Photographing him head-on reminded me how good those head markings are at breaking up the visual outline of their heads...

Very cool!

Ate a f/t pinkie last night, no problemo...

YEAH baby! Good feelin' isn't it! Now he should be off to the races. Congrats! I know you are gonna love that guy, they can be so mellow... every single one of my greeri are as tame as kittens. Best handling kings I have ever had, bar none. I keep threatening to sell them to make more time for all the others, but they are just so darn nice to work with I can't let 'em go!

Here's one of my best kingsnake buds ever, this guy is a real puppy dog and always has been. He is also my younger of two breeder males and he is definitely a fertile male, he proved himself for the first time just last year.....

Beautiful snake- I'd call that light grey bands-

actually that snake starts to show how closely related they are to Thayeri, substitute tan for that grey and they would look close...I wonder if the two supspecies actually ever overlap in coloration/pattern...

The red on that one looks terrific.
He would pair up nicely with this female of mine.
I am still looking for a nice male for her for next year.
It is going to be hard to find an adult male Greeri for sale though.
