Anyone who keeps Goldens or has any knowledge of the species know what's the deal w/ their color change? I read that females have a darker duller colored dorsal area than males, but I've got 2 males and I've seen them both when they've turned a dark brownish color.

i have both male and female, depending on the stress level they are bright or dark. when stressed they get dark. when happy they turn the green w/ light blue legs. my male never realy gets bright bright but he does get alot lighter, my female even gets a real light color about 10-15 mins after i turn the light off.
the male is on the bottum and the female is on the bottom.

Females are as brightly coloured as males.
If animals are dull, they are either stressed by cagemates or by inappropriate conditions.
Remember these are not rainforest dwellers but rock dwellers.

females are not as bright as males.... at least not mine
my male is more yellow on his back and has a slight blue tint on his legs... depending on the mood. and they are arborial tropical geckos... seeing how they come from the jungles in vietnam. my female is a dark brown/green color.
