Cutting eggs

PetMania May 25, 2005 06:06 AM

I am on day 51 on a clutch of maturnal incubated eggs. Is it still to early to cut the eggs. The eggs are still nice and large. They have not dimppled yet and I am worried about the snakes drowing in their on yoke?

Don't cut the eggs yet! Wait until at least 55 days and then still think twice before cutting them open. If the eggs are looking healthy, leave them alone. Maternally incubated eggs often take slightly longer to hatch than artificially incubated ones. Eric Davies

Day 51 is way too early to be thinking about cutting eggs ... you should hang on until at least day 57 - 59 ... depending on the temps of your incubator they can hatch normally at 60 days plus ! Also bear in mind if your eggs are still stuck together, the ones underneath may take a few days longer than the ones on top, so if you cut start with the top ones first.

Good luck and be patient !!

maybe more

people always want to cut eggs and always say they are worried the baby will drown......

ok....they usually never drown in the fluid or get tangled in the yolk and little cords and all.....yes it has happened...yes they even may come out then duck back inside and get tangled and or stuck.........oh well......they die they die.we are not God.....

most will make it..........balls are very hardy..........they can take alot of rough temps and extreme temps.......they can take bad humidity or over wetness......

........

Rules you should use..you got let's say 6 eggs..on day 58 1 pips..on day 59 one pips........on day 60 3 more pip...Then you cut the last egg.............

let's say you have 12 eggs.........one pips then 2 then 3........yes you can go ahead and cut the last 6.......it may be day 58 it may be day 65........it depends on the eggs and alot on the temps.......

.....

.........why hurry..........you won't get to do it again for a whole year?..........(from that one girls's eggs).....
