Your phantasticus looks nice but he definatly looks to be on the thin side but maybe it was just the position he was in when you took the picture. How long have you had him?
-Matt
I have had him a month and a day. I am peering at him now and i dont think he looks too thin, however perhaps he is. What do you guys think?

I think it is a little on the thin side. That is how one of mine looked when i first got it but after having it for a few months it is a little chunker girl now.

I personally do not agree. I have noticed that many of my males are quite thin in comparison to my females. I feed my on an every other day basis. Every animal is different has a different metabolism. his rear hips look like they are quite full. I weould be concerned if the hip bones were showing but because of that, I don't think it is an issue. Is it eating regularly? Do you seen his droppings in the tank, is there anything abnormal in them like undigested prey?
Jason
i gotta agree with jason to disagree. i have a lot of satanics and they are normally very thin, i only have one female that is constantly fat and that's my female that has been laying eggs for me for quite some time now. i've got one male that i've had for a long time now, and he does well but he just doesnt gorge himself at feeding time like some of the others. looks like this guy is just between meals or something, when they start getting dangerously thin, like jason said the main thing is you'll see that the hipbones jut out, and the spine can also become a lot more visible. i think the tail will also thin a little. but i would say this lil guy looks like he's in good shape.
Thank you for all the concern guys, I appreciate it. He does eat very well and his stool looks normal and well formed. If it does make a difference, yesterday was his off day. He is due for a feeding tonight.

Sorry Jeff if I worried you at all. I based my comment only on previous pictures I had seen of this species and have never personally kept phantasticus. I keep Uroplatus pietschmanni which is generally a more robust species.
-Matt
yea, the body structure of ebenaui, phantasticus, and malama differ from the rest of the uroplatus species. while most are dorso-ventrally flattened, the above three species are moreso laterally compressed. it comes out a lot more after its been a few days since feeding.
I appreciate your concern. Thank you!
