protein skimmer

i am currently having a 6-7 inch snapping turtle in a 90 gallons tank. do i need a protein skimmer ????

Protein skimmer doesnt work in freshwater since its not as dense as saltwater.The bubbles are way way bigger than in salt and do nothing.
In theory it should work slightly in fresh but in reality it does NOTHING. I have tried it. The only way it might work is if your water is filthy.
Water changes are plenty.
