i cleaned all my gecko enclosures today and my one male has been tryig for hours to get under the paper towel for some reason. they're usually timid af first when going back in their tanks but in a little while usually find their humid hide and stay there. not this time with this guy. what would make him do this?

Warmth? privacy? humidity?

If you don't have a heat mat, get one. Keep his temps in the 80s. If you don't have hideouts for him, make up a moist hideout today. If you have all of them, just let him be, as long as he is safe...

Leos have a right to their own fetish, I guess...

I've had several do that. Alarmed me at first, when I couldn't find them lol.

My guess is that they do that to hide better. My current leo is in my classroom with me. While I've given her plenty of things to hide in during the daylight hours, she still prefers to go under the paper towels - fewer scary students that way, I guess.
