manakawari May 25, 2005 10:55 PM

hey guys,i have been coming to this forum for over a year now and id post every now and then.most of my questions were around why the hell my almost 2 year old manakawari has not yet changed colors.well this week he finally did so!!!!on monday,i woke up at looked at him and instead of being all bright yellow,he was all kinda a mustard yellow.then, within 3 days,we went from yellow,to his full adult colors..typical manakawari coloring..a super bright light lime green, with lots of vertical bright blue stripes..he has tons of blue!!! i am so excited...the blue bands started out as gray just yesterday, but now this morning, they turned blue..not kinda blue, but electric blue.i am so excited..i had no idea it came on like this..it happened in 3 days!! ...is this typical??i imagine not cause like i said,he was almost 2 before it happened. anyway,i just thought id share the news.i got him from bushmaster.i know that lots of people dont speak highly of farm raised animals.maybe i was just lucky, but he has always been a good eater.i got him as a hatchling and from the day i got him he never turned down a meal.now that i see his colors,i couldnt be happier.he looks exactly like all the manakawari pics i have seen, except he has some white spots.unlike the other manakawaris i have seen.maybe hes a manakawari/aru cross.either way he is a really nice animal.ill post pics when i take them.thanks for all the advise.i couldnt have gotten this far without it,and thanks for all the advise im sure to get in the future.you guys and gals rock!!

That's a chondro for you. lol. I've had them change as quickly as 3-4 days or as long as 2-3 years. My biak male is 5 years old and still changing. Kam from bushmaster also said he has 10 year olds that are still showing change. Now get yourself a red baby or 10 and watch those guys. It gets interesting. Congrats on your first ontogenetisis. The hook is set and they're reeling you in. lol.
