unhappy whites not feeding

Andy_ribbit May 26, 2005 03:56 AM

I have two whites tree frogs. recently, one has stopped eating all together. when ever food is placed neer her, she actively backs away from it. she also seems to be sitting with a gaping mouth for long periods at a time. i have seperated her from the other one (who is totally fine). her temperature stays at a steady 28-29 degrees, has regular calcium supliments, water is changed daily and the tank is cleaned one a week. apart from not eating (she has lost a lot of weight) and having this 'gapin' mouth, she seems fine, and becomes relatively active at night. plz help!!!

The gaping mouth is a sign of respiratory problem. You will need to get the to a vet. In the mean time, you need to quarantine the sick frog. I would change the others frogs enclosure, too. Make a sure their enclosures are lined with moist paper towels and their water is dechloinated and changed daily. Other than that, there's not much you can do with out a vet visit. Sorry to hear this. Hope it all turns out well. Let me know what happens. Good Luck.
