"I know it wasnt a copperhead because......"

"......it let me pick it up."

This is a quote from someone on a reptile UNrelated forum who went camping and told a short story about a snake encounter they had on a trail.
I couldnt believe what I read, so I promptly responded with some insight as to the flawed train of thought there. Im not into blasting or flaming in those instances since people will tune you out if you yell at them. So I kindly let them know I have some pretty laid back rattlesnakes at home. They dont get handled, but they dont fuss about being on a hook.
That persons mentality reflects a portion of the human population, and it is that one that is gonna brew trouble for them down the line.

just have to learn the "hard way."

Having said that though, I have encountered a good number of copperheads that were so "dog tame" (especially Southerns) that I am certain I could have free-handed them. Of course I didn't.

Congratulations on remaining tactful with this guy.
