found powdery yellow/white stuff on deli cup. what is it????????

mauwdee May 26, 2005 04:43 PM

I moved my snake to a deli cup to feed it and give me time to clean its enclosure. As I put my snake back to its enclosure I noticed a yellowish/white powder on the bottom of the deli cup is this from it releasing musk????? or is it something else???

Sounds like urates aka urine (whiteish/yellowish with clear viscus fluid dries into powdery clump) should be normal unless overly yellow (my snakes is white sometimes with a little very faint yellowing).

My snake used to do this when i first got him in the feeding container waiting for his meal or while i cleaned the cage. Doesn't do it much anymore guess it may be linked to the handling as now that my snake is calmer it rarely ever does it outside the cage.

good luck with your snake
