Small Boas? Help?

AJCrader May 26, 2005 05:16 PM

I am trying to find a boa that doesn't get any longer than 6', but will get longer than 3'. I am pretty sure that a rosy boa fits, but not sure, plus I can't find any other boas that fit. Please help me!?!? If you could give me an average price too it would be greatly appreciated.

First off, If I may ask.....why the size limit? But anyways to answer the question here are a couple options....

- Kenyan Sand Boas females-30-36inches /Males around 18-26
- Rubber Boas.... Really cool snakes... Females 25-33 inches
- Candoia species??? Cool snakes!!!! Examples are
Viper boas(less than 3 ft)
-Solomon Island Tree (around 3ft)
***Solomon Island ground (females 4-6ft/Males 2-4ft)

Check out the candoia species at.. www.candoia.s5.com or check out my site.

all wrong.. lol
Rosy's, Rubber's and Candoia AVERAGE out under 3 ft.

There is a world of BCI available to you...

here is a fantastic site with all of this info, down to care sheets and maps of origin.

www.RioBravoReptiles.com

Just to name a few, you can get Boa Constrictors from Panama, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Honduras, El Salvador, Cancun Mexico, Sonoran Desert Mexico, Paraguay, and more

Then there are the insular species/subspecies such as the Hog Islands, Corn Islands, and there are actually several different varieties that range between dozens of small islands that stretch along off the coast of Central America.

So above you have a choice of atleast 20 different boas that average out between 3'-5' (about 3'+ for insular and 5' or so for mainland [some exceptions]) and range in colors from dark brown to olive greeens and from silvers to bright reds..

Prices for most of these animals are in between $200 - $400 for quality captive bred and born specimens.

Happy Hunting!

Thanks, Joe Rollo - Bci Joe

Baby kenyan sand boas run anywhere from $30-$300 (avg $50 for normal) depending on color(albino/normal..etc.) and size.

Solomon Island Ground boas usually run about $70-150 each but MAKE SURE they are eating mice!!!! Check with Jerry Conway, he has great animals!!

Rubber boas sell for around $60 on up.... I have some on my site for sale.

Let me know if you need more help!! Also check out the sand boa forum...and candoia forum above...can get great help there!!

I love the Brazilian Rainbow Boa's, 5 - 6 ft medium bodied. Beautiful colors. Need a high humidity environment and run around $150 in the classifieds

Have you thought about Sonoran Bci or Cay Caulker Bci? My largest Sonoran is 5 ft and my largest Caulker is only 4.

I am right now gathering information, I want to make the best decision possible for me. I would like to find something relatively inexpensive. I don't have much extra money so cost is a big factor and any help would be greatly appreciated.

Well, Sonorans usually go for $125 on up, Caulkers I've seen for $150 on up, if that helps. I hope since you are looking for an inexpensive snake that you have the funds available if it needs veterinary care...

bc Longicauda but im partial to them to begain with. females max out at about 6.5 ft and 12 lbs and males 4.5-5 and 5-6 lbs more active then all my other boas like to climb and are often found crousing the branches oin their cage. can handle lower temps and humdity then most and are as irradesnt as a rainbow boa. run from 300-1000. and look different from all the other boas.
