Frozen Thawed mice vs live...can't keep mice in the freezer!!!!

Anubis Jul 12, 2003 08:28 PM

I have a problem. I have no problems feeding live pinkies and maybe fuzzies to my juv Sav because I'm not really worried about diseases because (a reputable breeder) of where I get them and their too small to put up a fight but I do feel a little bad when the fuzzies are screaming as he swallows them. They are probably still alive in his stomach for a while too and this I feel is a little cruel. So my question is...no way am I putting frozen mice with sundays frozen steaks in my fridge so whats the most efficient way to kill the fuzzy before I give it to him. Because I'm not feeding him live mice when he gets big cause I don't want him getting scratched or attacked by the mouse. So what should I do no one around he sells prekilled mice??

Well then about your only choice would be to use a holding cage for the mice and pre-kill right before you feed.WHAT NO MICE IN THE FREEZER with tommorrows dinner, what is happenning to this hobby!!! LOL

Order them from the classifieds on here, rodentpro quality is excellent and now Frank Retes sells them in reusable containers.

Well I would buy live mice where I live cause they were cheaper then frozen and then do them in my self.
I bought a cheap 9-12 oz CO2 tank from my local walmart(For paintball) and then made a CO2 gas chamber out of a rubbermade container and some paintball fittings. The gas it heaverthen air and smuthers the mouse. It does not scream like thumping it and not messy tables either. My snake and monitor seemed to approve as well.
If this seem good to you you should be able to build one for like oh $20.00 or so.
