Well drayko is in my room in the attick. its turning to summer now and is starting to get pretty warm up there. I noticed today he was laying on his piece of wood and his mouth was open. This means hes to hot right? his rock temp is basking temp is 108-110 and his surface temps on the other side of the tank are 90.

is there a way i can keep him cooler? I really can't put him anywhere else in the house. I have a hyper dog who would probably really bug him if hes moved outside of the upstairs.

Hey YF. Wassup? Your basking temp is ok...but definitely gotta bring the cool side down a bit. Have you tried using a thermo/rheostat? Do the temps fluctuate a lot in the attic? Or you could just try a lower wattage bulb. Drayko;s basking temp is great, but it could go down a few degrees and still be fine if that means lowering the ambient temp.

well the problem is that when the suns out it heats up the attick since the shingles are basically right there. I think i have a solution though. I'm getting a tank and i'm going to put it on the landing of the steps going to the attick. The temp is always nice there and should keep his temps more constant. I'm also thinking about getting a 30g used tank i seen at goodwill with the stand. This way there will be room for more of a temperature change. Its hard to get a nice change in a 10g tank. What do you think?

Sounds good to me. Yeah...definitely upgrade from the 10 gal...they're way too hard to get the right gradient. Your finished tank looks awesome, btw.

yeh i remember that but i was trying to figure out what branch they shared. Thats sweet! Its amazing how similiar they look. I wonder how close they will look when mature. Think mine being part german giant will make big difference?

I'm not really sure. GG's are supposed to be larger than average and for the most part that's true. But I think that GG's have been crossed with everything so much that almost every kind has a bit of giant in it. We'll definitely have to keep each other posted on pics...I'm interested as well to see how much they end up looking alike.
