Need Setup Ideas for PacMan...please

sallie_keeper May 26, 2005 07:24 PM

Hi all, I just rescued a rather large pacman frog yesterday and need opinions on setup for him.. He is a large pacman...good 6 inches nose to vent, and then there is the gut... BEAUTIFUL MARKINGS.. LOTS of Yellow with black splotches..(not albino)

He has been in nothing but VERY dry bed-a-beast for the past couple of years, never had a water bowl, just sprayed down once in while and NEVER cleaned, the stench was unbelievable.. I am currenly soaking the frog to rehydrate him, and to clean him up. Surprisingly, he is in good health..nice clear eyes and skin. Now I need ideas on how/what to use for his new home.

He will be in a 10 gal tank, I dont know if I should go for half water/half moss setting or bedabeast and moss with large water bowl. I want it simple, easy to clean and..would like to see the frog once in awhile..

Which is better?? How deep should I have substrate??

Any suggestions??

Thank.

Harpy

ps, he has been dubbed, Prince Charming....lol

hi
congrats on the rescue! they never move, so a 10gallon will be just fine. no half land/half water setup, it will be nasty to keep clean, the frog could drown, and they dont need all that water. all you need is a big enough bowl for him to get in IF he wants. if you keep him sprayed and hydrated then he probably wont use the bowl. my pacman uses her bowl for a toliet, LOL.

only use the coconut fiber stuff with some moss on top. use about 2 inches of substrate and an inch of moss, he'll feel secure, but wont dissapear.
