short and sweet venom

zakbag_darlde666 May 27, 2005 02:44 AM

It is wrong to devenomize snakes that are supposed to be venomous. If you are not experienced enough to deal with a venomous snake there are plenty of great nonvenomous snakes to choose from. Leave the snakes that could kill you or ruin your week to the experts.LET THE SNAKES KEEP THEIR VENOM!

Hey man, you are certainly entitled to express how you feel, but I will tell you that the whole venomoid issue is PLAYED OUT on this forum....It has been worked over more times than Jenna Jamison...All that happens is people start yelling at each other and such...That horse is most definitely dead (and headed for the glue factory).

I just have to say I loved that response.

jasonmattes May 27, 2005 12:12 PM

I liked the jenna jamaeson analogy...LOL

Yeah, well, Im new to the venomous forum and all the venomoids in the classifieds made me angry so I decided to say something about it. Excuse me for voicsing my opinion about something that has appearantly been talked about before. I really take offense to people trying to make me sound like an idiot as well. You should really find something better to do with your time than critisizing people.

Zak: There was no offense intended in azatrox's post. He was simply trying to let you (& anyone who might consider a response) that the issue is really not worth discussing here. He tried to do so while injecting a little humor, but not at your expense. At least that's the way I read it.

make a seperate "venomoid" sub forum after all they are not really venomous anymore. they are sort of like a muscle car without a motor.............LOL

Zak...

I fail to see where I was criticizing you for anything at all...In fact, I prefaced my entire post by stating that you have every right to state your opinion....My main point wasn't about YOU at all, but rather the re-visitation of an issue that has been covered ad nauseum here....

If you do an archive search, you will find the subject of venomoids over and over again....My point was that invariably it starts with someone stating a strong position either for or against them, and it winds up with everyone just yelling @ each other without listening to anything at all....

Zak, it's still a free country (for now) and as such, you can feel however you wish to feel about venomoids or anything else. My intent was not to critcize you for holding any beliefs you have....My intent was a pre-emptive attempt not to get into a huge flame war about something that will invariably be the same after everyone has finished their screaming at each other and will result in a huge waste of space...That is, those that agree with "venomoiding" will still agree with it regardless of what the "anti-venomoiders" scream, and those that are opposed will still think that the "venomoiders" are a bunch of bumbling idiots, regardless of what they scream...trust me...do an archive search and you'll see EXACTLY what I'm speaking to....

Personally, (and I don't claim to speak for anyone here but myself), I'd much rather discuss relevant issues to ALL hot keepers (for instance the proposed ban on virtually ALL hot keeping in NC) than revisit a tired issue that has been run over so many times that one cannot even make out the tire-tracks anymore.....

There...I've said it, I'm done and that's it.

I saw absolutely NO harm in Azatrox's post to you (the original poster venting about the venomoid issue). We are pretty much all on the same page and there was no ill intent by any of the post directed at you. This is a beaten to death issue and I felt it was well stated by AzAtrox....some people just get their panties all bundled up over nothing; relax folks and just take a deep breath.

I remember the first time I penned a flame to void fans, expressing my distaste at the butchery they were performing on beautiful animals. Its over 10 years now but I still feel the passion and the disgust at these wahoos. BUT as so many have correctly stated there are now two camps on this issue (the Hatfields and the McCoys if you will)it will probably not change until 1) the practice is made illegal (doubtful) 2) ALL venomous bans fall into place (more likely) or 3) the hobbyists involved in working with venomous boycott these dolts and soon they will have no market for butchered snakes, and those thinking about buying one will be shamed into getting something they can handle OR learn what they need to learn to correctly maintain a venomous reptile. $ is what drives the venomoid engine, take the $ away and it will sputter, cough, and DIE on the side of the road.
Although in a country whos government gave medicaid funded viagra to convicted sex offenders, I would not expect balanced and/or fairhanded treatment of this issue when they get involved.
