Mad About The Condition My Beardies Clutchmate

Urojade Jul 12, 2003 08:48 PM

i was in the area where i bought my first dragon today so i stopped in to have a look around,my beardies brother lives there with a beutiful big orangey sandfire female, so went to look at them and the female was obviously dominant much bigger and fatter then the male, and the male was skin and bones much smaller then the female, even the fat pads on his head where sunken, neither of them are for sale anymore, the store owner decided to keep them(i really want that female im going to get some money and start offering ubsurd amouts for her) i was afraid to say anything cuase i thought she would get mad and ban me or something or yell at me,i dunno i dont do well in these situations, but im gonna see if my mom will drive me back so i can talk to the owner about him, i thought about it a bit and decided his health is more important then me being shy and what really upsets me is that she seems to really like reptile but has gone down hill with them. i dont know how to approach the owner though, i was thinking maybe if she doest want to take care of him maybe she'll let me take him and get him well again becuase maybe he's accully sick and she cant afford to get him better or something, erm im feel like im rambleing now, thanks for any sugestions

You might want to call the humane society in your area. They'll tlak to her, and possibly take the beardies away. Than you can adopt from them for A LOT cheaper, good luck

well ask them what's going on.

just ask in as nice and casual way as you can...

if you think from what they say that they have a real problem perhaps call the SPCA in your area and ask them to check on them.
also if you can take some photos with date stamps that could help if you talk to the spca.

..... perhaps they are treating it for something?

is this a retail shop kinda deal??? if so you have every right to take photos and ask them whats going on etc....

and if they can't give a "reasonable" answer you and the SPCA could if needed close them down....

not that I am saying thats the only way.... just that a sick animal is not cool and you can do something ... even if you are just say a kid .... if you can tell it's sick and they can't prove they are tending correctly then they are just plain wrong.

do be polite
do give them a chance to tell you what they are doing
do be ready to document what you see and hear, bring a friend and just tell them to listen but not say anything etc...
just be a witness.

and if you are left with a bad impression ask the witness what they think.
then act.

get the witness to write down what they saw and heard .... sign and date it.

this is to cover you incase they try to change storys later.

hope it goes well.
