Whats wrong?

LeoGirl May 27, 2005 03:32 PM

I got two leos from a friend about 2 weeks ago and when you look at their stomaches you can see the eggs in them. Is there something special I need to do for them? How long do they have the eggs in them for? How will I know it is time for them to come out. They were in a cage with a male before , I have two females.

First of all, your females need a humid hide in their cage. I use the microwavable gladware containers for my females. I cut a small round whole in the lid that is just big enough for the girls to fit through. Then fill the inside with sphagnum (sp?) moss, or something called bad-a-beast that you can get at petco or petsmart. Then just make sure to mist the inside of the hide everyday so the moss/bedding stays very wet (but not dripping wet).Females generally lay two eggs every 3-4 weeks. Trust me you will know when they are about to lay, you can see the eggs through there abdomens, they will start digging in their hides, and they look pretty much like if they got any bigger they would pop! I've gotten to the point were I can very accurately guess the day each female will lay by when they laid last, how big they look, and how they are acting. And make sure you have an incubator ready. Good luck!
