How many ball pythons to a cage

rick1965 May 27, 2005 04:42 PM

does anyone sucessfully keep more than one ball in a cage. Just curious, i have kept 2 male balls together for over 3 years and have noticed a large disagreement among most hobbists about whether they should be kept together. I have had no problems during this time.My snakes are both great eaters and like to be handled.

Comments appreciated

If you've had no problems then you've pretty much answered your own question. Proper husbandry would elimante most of the issues that people have. If they are properly kept they won't impose too much stress on the other, nor will they be getting sick and passing that on to the other. they might actually find comfort in the presence of on another. My only issue with keeping two males together would be that they would be more territorial during the breeding season. But since you have not had any issues with that then maybe without exposure to a female that really isn't an issue. I've have been known to be worng tho.

Sounds like it's worked out great for you....for now. One day you might come home to one big fat snake because it smelled a rat on the other one. I've had it happen with baby boas, and balls. It kills them both, unless you can get the one out of the others stomach.
