a new female!

gonexenopus May 27, 2005 06:52 PM

i got a new veiled female today! she is approx. 7 month old and is beautiful! she has a lot of orange and white spots on her, lots of markings. the markings look just like butterflies! she is really beautiful. her name is Arcadia, i'll have pics up soon.

also, Yema is now about 6 months old and Arcadia is 7 possibly 8 months. i have not seen any gravid behavior from Yema and Arcadia's previous owner has not seen any from her either. shouldn't they be developing eggs soon? i've been watching Yema a lot lately and she is totally normal. i'm just being a worried parent i guess, i dont want her become eggbound.

i've ordered two really big reptariums for the both of them. big enough ones for a ficus or scheffelara (sp) and a 5 gallon bucket for egg laying. i still plan on constructing them their own cages, but with work and moving in two weeks i just dont have the until about august. until then, reptariums will just have to do.

oh, and i've been keeping Arcadia free-range in my room. she sits on a ficus tree and has yet to move from it. i have a basking lamp haning above-right of the tree, she is always basking it. and she drinks water from my hand. i'll go to spray her and she walks right up to the nozzle and lap the water.
