How soon should I feed after brumation is complete???

jkins May 27, 2005 09:48 PM

Hello,
I have started really late but I just pulled my kings out of hibernation yesterday! I was having some issues with their rack system and couldn't bring them out of the garage. They all look healthy and now are waiting for food. The last month they have been at 60 degrees. Would it be alright to start feeding or should I give them a week to warm up? Also do you think they would still breed for me or did I miss the boat this year?
Thanks,
Josh

Feed them soon, I'm sure they are acclimated to normal temperatures already after a week at 60 degrees.

I'd say you missed the boat for breeding(the normal boat), but you can still pair them up and give it a shot for later clutches.

Josh,

I spend a week raising temps from brumation temps (55-60) to 80 and then begin feeding.

Thanks for the suggestions. I fed them yesterday and they all ate so hopefully I can get them on track. As far as breeding goes should I at least try after a few weeks of heavy feeding? Just curiuos to see what everyone thinks.
Regards, Josh
