Psorasis with snakes?

ssnakemann777 May 28, 2005 06:32 PM

I am hoping someone out there can help me with a question. IMy girl friend has psorasis. Its a skin condition where your immune system works overtime. The result is a rash that itches badly but if you scratch it can break open the skin but it doesn't bleed or anything. The question is would this cause trouble with snake handling? Would they smell anything that might cause them to become agitated or to strike? I know it sounds off the wall but I really have never thought of it so I don't have a answer and I don't currentley have a snake to test. So if anyone can help me please respond. Thank you.

I myself have psoriasis, but only on my scalp where it is conveniently covered by my long hair. My boa loves to crawl all over my head, and thus far has shown no signs of tolerating the skin there any less than other parts of my body. I don't think snakes even recognize things like it, so I'm pretty sure your girlfriend should be able to handle them just fine.
