gravid bicinctores

username854 May 29, 2005 01:30 AM

out of my three female bicinctores only one has orange bars, now im not sure if this is a normal pattern or if it is for sure a sign that she is gravid. so my question is, in this species do gravid females usually exhibit orange stripes, or orange spots?

ivan the girl is not a bicinctores but her orange spots are like a light orange, not even close to zia's bars

the color orange, some are BRILLIANT orange, others are very light, and get brighter as the days go on.

Some like my C. vestigium female only get an orangey streak by her neck.

If your girl is atleast 8 - 9 months old and is getting orange, than shes probably gravid.

mine look allot like john e's female but slightly brighter. i just built another cage for them to live in. i caught all of them my self so i could hand pick them. 2 of the females look to be in thier second breeding season and i have a smaller one thats probably 9 months and still growing. My male is an absolute stud. i kept the biggest most colorful one i could find.so i think all three females will probably produce a clutch or two this year.

I have to agree with Eve. I have two gravid bicinctores. One has little orange on it while the other has somewhat more. The one shown with the more orange on it is pictured. She's likely due in a week or two. Nothing like my aquaflame or dickersonae as far as displaying the brighter gravid coloration (red/orange banding).
