Finally goy my 2 Azureus!!

reptileink May 29, 2005 08:14 AM

Got my 2 Azureus today. Both about 2-3 months old. Not sexable yet. Of course, both frogs took the jump into the water, and both found their way out. Here are some quick pics!

Those are beautiful frogs. Here is a picture of my adult sexed pair, with the male on the right. These are older and more "freckled" than yours, rather than having the more bold dark markings. Not any prettier, though. I posted them because you can see the male's widened toe pads fairly well.

Very nice Patty! They look a little more "dusted" than mine do. Do they get lighter as they get older??

I don't think so. I believe they get even more vibrant as they mature. Some of the orange frogs like galactanotus and the Bastimentos pumilios can lose color a they age, (the reason we supplement their food with paprika,) but in my longer experience with the blue auratus, they have just gotten better with age. I've never heard of fading colors on healthy azureus, if that's what you mean by getting "lighter." I haven't had mine long enough to note a difference yet.
