THis little Platyrhinos will eat 1/4" crickets and mini King mealworms as well, but not as a normal offering, you should always include ants from lifewest or some other ant vendor. Fireside sent you to Phrynosoma.com which has all the lighting and cage requirements. The males of this specie have two lage scales right under the vent at the base of the tail, the females do not. So you might check and see if this is two boys or a pair. I'm glad you have experience with other lizards, just be sure to keep one side of that cage with a basking spot around 105 degrees and the cool side of the cage about 85 degrees. Often with horned lizards I have found home depot palysand is cheap, comes in a 50 lb bag and change out the sand every 3 to 6 months, keep the cage clean when they go potty. You should have them in a 20 gallon long aquarium at a minimum. For my two Sloar I have them in a 40 gal agauarium which makes an ideal size for a pair. You may want to get a spray bottle and occassionally spray the plants of rocks when they are warm and see if they lap up some of the drops, I also sometimes spray the side of the glass and they will lap the water off the glass. These lizards don't get a lot of water in their natural habitat, but occassional spraying is proabably a good thing. I think Fireside gave you very good advice as he alwasy does, but thought I would chime in and add a few things. LIke Fireside I am just concerned that you have a good set-up. Would you consider taking a picture of your set-up so one of us can look at it make any comments postivie or negative. Anywya good luck and cheers. let us know if you need any other help, there are no egos over here, just concern for the anumals and their conservation.......Cheers!! DId you say that you have a flourescent UVB bulb> YOu should use 7.0 or greater with desert lizards. ESU makes a good desert one as well as others. Many of us are using a mercury vapor bulb instead of a flourescent but just so they get the needed UVB lighting so they don't get bone disaese over long time lack of exposure to UVB/IVA. Cheers!!!!

I'm not totally sure what substrate they're using right now, it's what I got from the guy I adopted from, but I will def switch to playsand ASAP just in case, it's what I use with the rest of my lizards (kind of looks like the walnuts, I've never used them before with any of my lizards, so I wouldn't have known, i stick to sand) I will def take pictures of the setup, but gimme a couple of days, I'm in the middle of working 9 days straight plus summerschool and taking care of the zoo
(plus my camera ran out of batteries, real reason, hahaha) but i'll get those to y'all. I do already mist them, about every other day and their rocks like, every day, I guess I have been doing that too much, I will keep that in mind, thanks, i'll make another post later, i'm late for work, eek
