I'm part of a reptile rescue in Wisconsin and we recently got this albino burm and it seems to have a waterfilled sack inside of her. the owner said it goes away sometimes but then returns it also has a few hard spots around the sack and you can see right thru it. There are very few vets that take care of reptiles and i was told if it doesn't bother her then don't worry about it. the snake does poop and eats but there is something really wrong with this snake any help will be helpful. please feel free to email me at funkymonkeylee@yahoo.com
I posted what i was told it was, the lady told be it was a ball so i posted it in the ball python forum only to be laught at and made fun of. i'm only looking for help and some people have nothing better to do then make fun of people. so please only post if you wanna help not make fun of.

Im not sure what that would be unfortunately. If you flip to your post in the BP forum someone recomended a good vet in wisconsin. It might be a bit of a drive but it would be worth it...especially if you are part of a reptile rescue, it would be a really good idea to establish a good relationship with a reptile vet because there are some cases that really just need to see a professional. Good luck!

the animal is able to urinate ok or not? Being that the previous owner claims that it comes and goes, I find it rather interesting. It is not an abscess, or constipation obviously, but I have never seen this particular issue before.

If you could please keep us updated as to what the vet claims, that would be awesome.

You can help educate others in here who might need to identify this particular issue at a later date.

Good Luck,

chris

I had the same prob wikth my albino....Its just a clutter of feses or however you spell it. Just soak him in warm water and gently apply pressure to it and it will come out like a rocket lol....Kind of gross...Its rare but some snakes build up a nice big clog there. If you shake him lightly you will hear it swish around. But I did it to mine and he hasnt had it since.
Good luck.

If you had read that post you might see that the snake does poop fine.

I have never seen this before, I would like to know;
What is it?
What caused it?
What to do if it happens to you?

Have a nice day

Do not try and force your burm to go to the bathroom, ESPECIALLY by squeezing the bloated area or by shaking the animal, not good advice. Try and HELP him go, not force, I do agree with soaking in warm water, luke warm. Just fill the tub and let him sit in there for about an hour. Make sure you also provide a big enough water dish in his enclosure so he can soak when he wants, they will constantly relieve themselves in their water dish. Try and put part of the water dish over a heat pad or under a light, to keep the water slightly warm. If the problem does not go away make sure to schd. a vet appt asap. Hope this helps.

I thought that wouldn't be a good idea. I've scheduled a vet visit in appleton (thank you, who ever referred appleton) I've also been on the phone with a few vets and they said they have only seen something like this in females that have giving birth. (laid eggs, droped a clutch whatever you wanna call it. just trying to be correct as possible some people like to make fun of people here. LOL) So i will keep everyone updated. The visit is thursday.

I'm from Canada and am visiting looking for some wild herps. Found a wood turtle yesterday!

As per the burm, I pride myself on being rather knowledgeable when it comes to animal health, but from the pics (they are nice) and your description I really don't have a clue. Please share what the vet finds ( I don't think it'll be a clear cut answer right away)

Are there any "must-see's" when it comes to a reptile lover visiting wisconsin? Large boids, crocodilians and venomous are all illegal where I come from so any collections and/or petstores that carry these would be awesome to check out, thanks!
