This snake is 1 - month old. He is beginning to look drawn and thin. How long do I let him go b4 I intervein? Any tricks? Tailing?

I had one go bad on me like that

then I had an emergency and he died while I was away
I still feel nauseus when i think of it

I read on the main ball python page of a similar situation. Everyone said use a hide box. Well, I did. And,... It worked!
That same night it ate. I believe in the power of the hide box!
