Mealworm Question

ajr May 29, 2005 09:58 PM

I have a bunch of very 'mini' mealworms that I keep as a once in a while change of pace for my Brown Anole. I notice that a few patches of mold formed on the surface of whatever they came packaged in. The mealworms seem alive and well but now I'm wondering if it is safe to use them. Any opinions?

They should be fine.

Thanks a lot. I just hated to have to re-order them just for the very limited numbers that I give her. These are very tiny and I can't get this size locally. I figured maybe they wouldn't be quite as bad for her as the big ones. They don't seem as hard. Plus, they have been eating up vitamin rich food.

They are easy to raise in limited quantities if you care to try. Contact me by private email and I can send along a document that I put together on raising feeder insects.
