darkserpent213 May 30, 2005 11:07 AM

I started mating crested last year .The female that I was mating recently past away (poor thing she will be missed) But now I have a new female so I tried introducing her to my male and my female attacked him . Bit him right on the head then he return the favor and did the same to her but didnt want to let go . Is this normal ? Cause last year when I mated my female that I had ,they did noting of the sort at all . they did there thing after 20 min I seperated them 30 day later had eggs. my last female with my male they were not agressive at all not in the slightest bit does thes mean my new female doesnt like my male? If you can help me please I would appreciate it thanks......

its not uncommon at all for them to be slightly aggressive during breeding, especially with males. although with females it usually isnt the case but it certainly isnt unheard of either. my males always do a whole big show with the biting and the squealing and a couple minutes later its over, its just a dominance thing as far as i know. i wouldnt worry much about it unless they are literally injuring each other, then they should be seperated. if they establish their dominance and get things squared away and then leave each other alone, i wouldnt sweat it.

I haven't seen my females bite my males other than once mistaking a leg for a cricket...but the male usually doesn't bite the female when mating...if they're both eating and one isn't intimidating the other into not eating, all should be fine

how would I know if he is hurting her? my last female and my male now never did this at all .How do I know if this chasing and biting scene when mating has gone long enough ( I just don't want my babies hurt in any way ,or tail dropping)my last pair chased each other around for like 10 mins then he had his way with her. just in 15 mins of meeting each other .I'm sorry for all the questions but this is only my second pair breeding and only my second yr. thanks again
