Any word from the River Road area?

stevenxowens792 May 30, 2005 12:16 PM

Curious to see if it is raining in that area.

Also wondering if Warden Spears will be out.

Looking forward to seeing everyone and observing some herps.

Cingular is the service I have. Scared the CRAP out of me when my phone started ringing. No hassels what so ever. I am sure some alterna would have been turned up if there where more herpers down there. Did not see any others except Sun Night. Friday there was good movement in the christmas till about 10 when the rain kicked in and the temps dropped to the low 60's high 50's. Fri Rain hit the river road and christmas about 7-8 and temps on the river never got above 72 or so. Called it quits about 12 with a temp of 57 at Longhorn. Sunday was good for movement rained again from almost the windmills to the Christmas. Temps were not as low though found 15 snakes this night.

Totals for trip
1 Suboc
3 Longnose
3 Ground Snakes
1 Gopher Snake
1 Checkered Garter
4 Whipsnakes during the day
6 Atrox
6 Night Snakes

P.S daytime highs barely hit the 90's if at all. Should be good coming up.

Rak,

That is awesome that you got to see some snakes at least on the last night. Did you only hunt the christmas area? I am looking forward to the trip. Are you going to be out next weekend? I thought you were getting a place somewhere out west?

If you are out look for a Silver Honda CRV. I am sure lance and I will probably stay at the easter egg or something since the cell phones work now. Not sure though. As always it depends on the weather and whats moving etc...

Thanks again for the information.

Only hunted the christmas Fri night. Don't know if I will be out there next week, but never know becuase it is just a hop skip and a jump now. I did move to Del Rio about 2 weeks ago.

I would love to talk my wife into moving down. It will never happen though. My buddy Troy Hibbitts lives in Camp Wood (outside of uvalde). You might run into him sometime in the area. Hope to see you out. Like I said, Lance and I will be in the Silver CRV.
