killatcali Jul 12, 2003 11:50 PM

How large do they get, can they reach 8ft like other beauty snakes?

Thanks in advance,
Mike

Yes, in fact some literature claims that they are the largest of the genus.

Oops, didn't mean to fire that message off so fast! Needed to add other sources say that they are usually a foot shorter than T. freisi which is widely acknowledged as the largest member of the genus. My 3 year old male is 7ft 2inches, so who knows?

Some bloodlines can easily reach lengths over 8 ft. I have a male that was 8 ft. 7 in. when I last measured him about 6 months ago. It was an accurate measurment and he is still only 4 years old. After watching my blues and tiawans age, I think blues can easily reach the same kind of lengths that the tiawans can but just not with as much girth. Later, Randy Whittington

Thats me. I had to take him out of the room he stays in and into a larger room so that my wife could get the camera far back enough to get all of him into the picture. Here he is with his main squeeze. They had 18 good eggs this year of which 17 hatched. Later, Randy

That was not including ANY extra length for him not being totally straight against the wall I measured him next to. With him only being 4 years old this leads me to believe that some blues can exceed 9ft. Randy W.
