nervous system disorder in mouse?

sumguy May 30, 2005 02:37 PM

Noticed the runt (hopper size but should be bigger) in my colony walking funny the other day. It would almost move both rear legs together. This morning it was lying on its side and barely struggled when I scooped it up. In my hands it would try to roll clockwise and forward instead of walking. Anybody have an idea what could cause this? Haven't used any chemicals recently in the apartment. The only change to their habitat since Jan-05 has been a drop in feeder. The first one was all hardware cloth; it was replaced by one made from a section of vinyl gutter downspout. they were terrified at first of the vinyl for some reason but are used to it now. Using aspen pellets for bedding in a 45 qt sterilite tub. The sick mouse has been put down

I think it is likely a congenital deformation rather than an environmental thing. Unless you are seeing more than one animal effected. Something going on with the little guy's nervous system, either injury or defect. Just my guess.
