Question about Helmeted Iguanas AKA Forest Chameleons

gemdreamer May 30, 2005 02:53 PM

I have a couple of these Helmeted Iguanas and they are very thin. I was wondering if this is normal in this type of Iguana or possibly that I need to take it to the vet and see if they have parasites or worms?

Today is a holiday and the vets are not open and I was just wondering if someone has experience with these types of Iguanas, maybe they can give me some advice or send me to a website that can give me info.

Thanks Shari

I hate to say it but I tried a couple of times with these lizards and failed miserably both times. After several weeks the lizards just quit eating and lanquished. It's not that I didn't try everything my vet and myself could think of, either.

From what I understand these guys needs lots and lots of room...more than you would think for their size. If I were to try again I'd put them in something no less than 5x3x6 with lots of cover and hidey places.

To answer your question, I think they do look a little thin even when healthy and eating well. Best of luck with them. They are interesting little lizards.
