Hey guys, here is a pic of my HUGE KY locale black rat snake.....

Hotshot May 30, 2005 03:33 PM

I havent measured him in a while, but Ill guarantee he is well over the 6' mark and still growing. His girth is enormous and he is not fat at all. Very muscular and strong, a serious rat wrecker he is!!!

I've seen your photos of this guy for a long time watching him grow. Just curious Brian, was there any way to tell when he was a hatchling that he would grow into a huge adult? Was he larger then your other Black Rats when he was a hatchling? Or just normal sized? Thanks for the pics, and here is a photo of my 04 male Black Ratsnake. Rockbridge county, Virginia locality. Hope he grows into a nice huge ratwrecker like your Ky. black Rat.

Thanks Steve. When I got him he was just your average sized hatchling. He came off of my brother-in-laws property, and he had some very large black rats roaming around there. So I figured if he was the offspring from them, he should get fairly decent sized. I have never power fed him, and always kept him on a steady schedule.

Your VA black rat looks alot like my MO black rats. Nice looking snake! One of my favorite snakes, love the variability of them across their range!!

Im hoping my greenish rat grows to a nice size, that would be awesome, a 6' greenish rat!!
