Lele - I am not quite sure about the bump. I just received her last week. Chris Anderson has noted a similar bump on a female Wiedersheimi that he has in the exact same location. If anyone else has any experience or has seen anything like it - it would be interesting to see.

and of course most photos are of males or babies, but I did find this site which shows the same bump on a female.

Thanks Lele - when I was talking to Chris, I mentioned that I thought it could be a vestigial tail fin on the female, but him noticing the same thing on a wiedersheimi made us think otherwise, but if there are other female montiums with it, maybe it is.

Allen,
If your montium is 3 months old, you should be able to see nubs of the rostral horns if it is a male. If you don't see anything resembling them, then you probably have a female. Post some pics if you have them.

I know, i see Those bumps on the nose ure talking about. But the guy who sold me this one said that occasionally females have a very little horn/bump also. So i wait for month or 2 and see what i have. But its not a problem for me whatever it is. Ill post some pics as soon as my parents are back home(they are on vacation and have the cam with them)

Awesome shots! I really like your Ambanja...any eggs incubating or hatching out soon?

Oh, and my female werneri shed today! I felt so proud for some reason. And gained another 1 gram already!

Luna is older than your new guy but she is in the midst of a full(!) shed (not just random body parts - lol!) which says to me she is well on the mend - just turned 2 years old

Zen - no eggs incubating yet. I don't have a female for this stud. His colors are incredible. He isn't much older than 9-10 months. A great female for this guy is on the wanted list. I got him from Tyler at BlueBeast.

Thanks Lele. It is an Olympus C-750. It isn't an SLR, but does allow you to screw on additional lenses - these photos were taken with additional Macro and Wide Angle lenses. It is a great camera, although it struggles in low light conditions.

I have been thinking about the new digital SLR's. My only complaint about my Nikon is that it will not take additional lenses. I may check into an Olympus. This is not the first time I have inquired about the make and gotten "Olympus" as a reply. hmmmm...
