Sick Green Tree?

5rings May 30, 2005 05:56 PM

My adult female Aru just had a quick one piece shed. When she was done she came down to the floor of the cage and took a nice long drink, then stayed there. She has been curled up on the floor of her cage all day. I took her out and looked her over. I cant see signs of anything but she did blow a bubble out of her nose, just one. Her breathing seems normal, her nasal passages look clear and she ate last week. When holding her she seemed active and alert. My Sorong female did this one time after she ate but returned to her perch later that day. I'll take her to the vet tomorrow but is there anything I should do between now and then? Is this in any way just normal behavior?

Quite often my snakes go to the ground prior to and right after shedding. They usually don't stay on the ground more than 2-3 days and when they come back to perch, lets me know they're ready for next meal.

Normal behavior? I'm still waiting for my chondro to give me "normal" behavior. Think i'll be waiting forever

There is nothing wrong with laying on the floor. Mine will for weeks at time for no reason. don't worry.

Sitting on the ground in and of itself is nothing to worry about. Especially if it is temporary. I have a male that thinks he is a carpet python (he is almost always on the ground- perfectly healthy, eats like an idiot, and he is set up just like my others)
Blowing bubbles of mucus would be bad, but could it have been water from drinking? If it was mucus (am I spelling that right?) then obviously get it to a vet.
